چکیده

The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique is used to compute light scattering from biological cells in two dimensions. Results are presented for the computed scattering patterns of cells containing multiple organelles. This method provides considerably more flexibility than Mie theory because of its ability to model inhomogeneous objects such as cells. © 1997 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. Finite-Difference Time-Domain Simulation of Light Propagation in 2D Periodic and Quasi-Periodic Photonic Structures

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...

Introducing nanostructure patterns for performance enhancement in PbS colloidal quantum dot solar cells

With attention to the thin film structure of colloidal quantum dot solar cells, in this paper in order to improvement of active layer absorption of them, we have proposed the use of nanostructure pattern for enhancement of their performance. For this purpose we have presented suitable nano hemisphare patterns in colloidal quantum dot solar cells for light trapping in absorption layer. Then with...

Band Structures for 2D Photonic Crystals in Presence of Nonlinear Kerr Effect ‎Calculated by Use of Nonlinear Finite Difference Time Domain (NFDTD) Method‎

We report the simulation results for impact of nonlinear Kerr effect on band structures of a ‎two dimensional photonic crystal (2D-PhC) with no defect, a PhC based W1-waveguide ‎‎(W1W), and also Coupled-Cavity Waveguides (CCWs). All PhC structres are assumed to a ‎square lattice of constant a made of GaAs rods of radius r=0.2a, in an air background. The ‎numerical simulation was performed using...

Quantitative Comparison of Analytical solution and Finite Element Method for investigation of Near-Infrared Light Propagation in Brain Tissue Model

Introduction: Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) is an imaging method in which light source and detector are installed on the head; consequently, re-emission of light from human skin contains information about cerebral hemodynamic alteration. The spatial probability distribution profile of photons penetrating tissue at a source spot, scattering into the tissue, and being released at ...

Scale-Dependent Light Scattering Analysis of Textured Structures on LED Light Extraction Enhancement Using Hybrid Full-Wave Finite-Difference Time-Domain and Ray-Tracing Methods

A multiscale model that enables quantitative understanding and prediction of the size effect on the scattering properties of microand nanostructures is crucial for the design of light-emitting diode (LED) surface textures optimized for high light extraction efficiency (LEE). In this paper, a hybrid process for combining full-wave finite-difference time-domain simulation and a ray-tracing techni...
